Idle Hands Are the Devil's Playground
I do not know if you heard that saying before or not. “Idle Hands Are the Devil’s Playground.” What it means is, someone who has too much time on their hands and no productive way to use that time wind up in trouble.
But let us consider the opposite. “Busy Hands Are the Devil’s Playground.” I know, you are probably thinking, “How?”
Well, this past week has been close to the busiest I’ve been in months. While I am staying out of trouble, I’ve been neglectful in several areas. I did not pick up my Bible, ok…I did once to help a friend find a passage. I spent very little time with my little boy (four hours yesterday driving to and then dropping him off at his grandmother’s house doesn’t really count as quality time) and very little time with my loving wife (maybe two hours of “non-business related” conversation).
Is this good?? No. Nope. Nada. Not even close.
So the question for you all is, how do you turn a week like my past one into a learning experience that you can actually learn from?
My first idea is to better manage my time. While that is good in theory, I do not have the time to figure that one out. Any suggestions?
My second idea is take on less work. Yeah, like that would work.
My third idea is to subcontract out more work. While that idea is the most appealing, it can sometimes be feast or famine and then the hassle of finding someone (again) who is better than me at what I do without having to shell out more than I get paid.
So, I am asking for feedback. Tell me what you do to manage your time better. What REALLY works and what doesn’t.
-D
P.S. Next time won’t be a week until you hear from me again.

This one is really tough! You’ll have to put your priorities in order. God is first. Then spouse. Then child(ren). Then the rest. At least that’s what I’m trying to stick to. I’ve found that when I’m doing work that isn’t what God’s called me to do, it eats up tons of my time and frustrates my home life. I know it’s harder for ya’ll, but you just gotta trust that God knows what’s best for you and your family — so if that means turning down some work here and there, He’s got other plans for you
Good luck with your schedule next week!!
